The Case Study participant:
Richard Kirk Architect (RKA) are invloved in the planning, designing, modelling and overseeing of a building's construction.
Location:
Richard Kirk Architect are located in Brisbane, Queensland, with an extensive staff to cater for their quality demand.
Case:
RKA have a detailed telephone system with many extensions coupled to a Telstra ISDN 30 incoming plan into the building. Their call costs were excessive - the telephone system was not too old, therefore could not justify replacing the system into a VoIP IP PBX. This meant the only economical option available was to implement small gateway units into their existing phone system by increasing the lines to be present within the current PABX so VoIP gateways could effectively tap into the existing system.
Solution:
From a process supplied by Harrisontech to RKA, RKA increased their lines available within their existing PABX system and installed a dedicated ADSL2+ connection for VoIP. Harrisontech installed two smart business grade gateways to available lines made present which could handle two lines each, so in effect increased the lines by four from the building. Harrisontech installed 2 X engin accounts on the IP VoIP gateways (one each gateway over two lines each). The PABX technicians programmed the existing phone to select the four VoIP lines, first for outgoing calls and then failover to the existing system if all outgoing lines were busy.
Operation:
A seamless no brainer operation was programmed into the PABX system so RKA could capitalise on the plans integrated by engin and reduce their call cost by 60% plus every month.
Benefits:
Reduce their call cost by 60% plus every month and still have the benefits of Telstra.
Final Assessment:
A small integration but very effective. It does cost a few dollars to setup properly (can be done cheaper), but for business, well worth spending the few extra dollars to achieve a quality result.
