The Case Study participant:
Tastech Business Solutions (TTBS) are a small part-time home based IT company for internet development and support.

Location:
TTBS are located in Ulverstone in Tasmania and service throughout Australia.They are basically a one man show.

Case:
Simply, TTBS needed to keep their costs low for telephone calls for business and home use. They did not want to spend too many dollars, only have a need to implement a reasonable quality grade VoIP solution for outgoing and incoming calls.

Solution:
After verbal assessemnt by Harrisontech, TTBS required a single ATA (voice box) for their small need, plus a modem and router replacement as the original equipment was supplied by Telstra and that equipment would not be compatible. Assessment of the broadband connection meant they had to increase their speed, however, they initially elected to try their original broadband speed first, but quicky found that they needed to increase the speed, as advised by Harrisontech, as they experienced choppy voice quality on the slow broadband speed.

Operation:
All equipment was set up and configured by Harrisontech and then posted to TTBS via Australia Post with plug-in instructions supplied. The service worked ok on the slow broadband speed but, as advised, they experienced choppy voice quality, and once increasing their speed the service worked nicely, and still is to this day.

Benefits:
Very low cost integration and cheaper telephone calls.

Final Assessment:
Perfrect for a very small business of this size, however a prime example of how the correct VoIP grade hardware equipment and broadband speed is essential. Telstra still required in their business.
